An eye for nature, a love for photography

Showing paradise as it should be seen

Logan Z. Carr’s path as photographer has taken him from his small town upbringing in his native St. Augustine, Florida to the apex of professional waterscape photography. Learning to swim by the age of two, and swimming laps for local charities by age seven, Carr swam competitively in the Florida State championships for St. Augustine. He was viewed as a tenacious tyke! Growing up in close proximity to the shores of Vilano Beach, fishing and surfing with his father and grandfather, Carr never stayed dry for long. Traveling to the island of Kauai at age eight and snorkeling in the pristine waters, his eyes were eternally opened to a new and dramatic underwater world. A medium to document that bold new world became available to him with the simple gift of a yellow Fisher Price camera from his Aunty Claire. Rainbow colored starfish in crystal tide pools were among some of his first photos.

Saving money working at a local restaurant he moved to Kauai after graduating high school in 1998. Instantly falling in love with the islands beauty once again, Carr wanted people to see the beauty of the ocean and the joy of the surfer. Spending time in the barrel became meditation and photography became the medium to document that experience. Completely self taught, Carr’s travels have taken him many places across the globe, including Hawaii, Tahiti and Indonesia, home to some of the most beautiful islands in the world. The captivating colors and picturesque backdrops of the tropics provide the inspiration behind his photographs creations. Presently, Carr hasn’t slowed down a bit, constantly continuing his photographic journey in search of remarkable images to document and share with you.
